Well Christmas Day is almost upon us again. This afternoon/evening we had delightful Christmas Eve nibbles and drinks with friends and their kids and it is actually quite fun to see Christmas through the eyes of little kids. They get so excited setting up the plate for Santa and the reindeer and it took me back to when I was small. Ah the nostalgia.

But enough of that, we finally have our tree up (like 2 days ago) which you can see above. Our stuffed animal family love the Christmas tree which you can also see above. Especially Chikorita and Pabu they just sit there staring at it constantly. We also have some presents under the tree, some which we don’t even know what is in there! One is the loot crate limited edition Mass Effect crate which we have been saving to unbox on Christmas morning. I am quite excited about this one as it is our first loot crate.

As we live on the opposite side of the continent to our families we have started our own Christmas traditions as it is often way to hard and expensive to get back home. Especially with George working fly in fly out now. We still gather with friends for what we have dubbed Orphan Christmas and we are both super looking forward to it. One thing we do every year is the Christmas ham which we will be bringing to the table tomorrow. In the past we have done the Nigella Cherry Coke, Coke and a jerked ham and they have all had punny names like Hamucles, Hamulus and Hamzilla. Tomorrow we will unveil Hamageddon on our friends. Whilst it is great to start our own traditions, we do sometimes miss home and another Christmas tradition is now receiving a package from my parents which mum sends up every year. It has some of our favourite things from Adelaide at Christmas time, Perriman’s mince pies for George and my mum’s homemade almond bread for me!

Anyway, yay for Christmas and to having a fun filled day ahead with great friends, copious amounts of food and drink and relaxing fun times. Happy Holidays everyone 🙂
