Parwana Restaurant

Whilst in Adelaide, we were able to finally visit Parwana Afghan restaurant. We had heard about this place from many people but just never managed to make it there in past trips.

I can say that it was totally worth the wait! We were very lucky as they had only just finished renovating and were back open when we visited. The restaurant itself is very inviting and relaxing. There is nothing pretentious about it which was very refreshing.

We went with a few people who had been there before and it was recommended that we just order many things and share them. So that is exactly what we did!

Slow cooked chicken with flat bread, an amazing chutney that was spicy, sweet and sour and a little salad accompaniment.

Delicious meatballs in a tomato based sauce at the front, and then at the back was the dish everyone raved about, the eggplant that is simmered in a light tomato sauce and topped with a garlic yogurt. I really wish I was eating it again right now!

Delicious pickles! We love pickles and made sure we tried some of these house made ones.

Delicious vegetarian dumplings that had a mince sauce topping as well as the garlic yogurt sauce again.

By the time we had finished everything we were so full and couldn’t really fit in dessert, so we didn’t indulge ourselves any further.

Parwana offers non pretentious and delicious food that you can tell is cooked with passion and love. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will totally be back for more!

I’m intrigued. Vegetarian… dumplings, that they add meat to!? Is that a standard menu item? It seems like an odd (but obviously delicious!) idea 🙂

It is 100% a feature on the menu. They have many vegetarian dishes and I’m sure they would modify it :p It was incredibly interesting to have the spiced mince on the outside of the dumpling but it totally worked!
