For those of you who are time poor, here is the tldr: long haul flights are the worst. Pack roll on deodorant in your carry on. We have made pigs of ourselves already. I hate the beach. We are too stingy to pay for wifi.

Man, long haul flights suck. Usually I sleep like a baby on any plane trip, but not when it occurs overnight it seems. Should’ve taken that sleeping tablet!

Eh, my sheer excitement at the fact that we were finally leaving meant that the adrenaline is keeping me going. Also can I just say that the service on Hawaiian airlines is superb!

Anyhoo, we had a 6hr stop over in Hawaii on our way to Toronto. To make the most of it, we went to Waikiki beach…in the middle of the day…

It was beautiful, but my red headed complexion does not do well with direct sunlight at the beach. Not to mention this was my attire:

I don’t really beach…unless it is around 4:30, but yeh it was so pretty as the below shows:

We also dined at Duke’s on the recommendation of one of George’s work colleagues. The food was yummy. We wisely had an entrée which was a kind of Hawaiian tuna tatare and cajun fish tacos.

The cocktails were meh and tasted a little too much like children’s medicine for me. We were about to leave when the waitress mentioned desert. She mentioned the words oreo crust base and George was sold.

It was called a hula pie and behold it’s glory.

We couldn’t finish it.

We felt sick enough as it was. But we have learnt our lesson early in regards to our food limits. Yes, I know I say this now…

Then back to the Honolulu airport for the 2nd of our 3 flights to start the trip. There was no free WiFi which shit us to no end and we refused to pay for it. Hence why we didn’t contact anyone till we arrived in Denver. I missed the internet ever so much. Also it is about this point that the combination of sunscreen, sweating, lack of a shower and teeth brushing were really getting to us and we were feeling unclean. But we only had eachother to sit next to on the next 2 flights so eh, stink it up we did.

One more quick 2hr stopover in Denver (hooray for free wifi finally! I was seriously having internet withdrawls!) till we were finally on our last flight for a while! We found a real no fooling City Wok too which kept us entertained.
