Toronto part 2

With a few days left in Toronto, there were 2 things we just had to do. One was try poutine and the other was visit Niagara Falls.

So firstly our poutine experience. We headed out to Poutini’s house of poutine as it had built up a reputation for being one of the best in Toronto. Their menu ranged from the traditional poutine, to ones topped with various meats and other toppings.

After a long deliberation, I picked the bacon topped one whilst George settled on bbq pulled pork. So, how did it taste? It was good, but not the best thing I had ever eaten. I honestly would take an AB over it anytime. But in saying that, the house made chips were very good. I think for me, I was just expecting a meatier gravy like what we are used to in Australia, but that isn’t a thing in Canada apparently. Also I don’t think the gravy was hot enough to melt the cheese curds properly. So yeh, it was tasty, but not my fave thing to eat so far (cue the Canadian lynch mob).

To walk off the carb overload we headed to an outlet mall to do a spot if shopping which did the trick nicely.

Niagara Falls is simply stunning. No amount of words can do it justice so see many photos below.

20150609_161215This was the American side of the falls. You see all those rocks? That’s where the Americans tried to blow up a part of the falls to make them look more impressive like the Canada side. It didn’t work out that great.

The little area around it called Niagara by the lake is also just beautiful with it’s streets lined with flowers and houses so big and pretty that it would be an awesome place to live if you had a spare 4 million lying around. But seriously, so beautiful and totally reminded me of Hahndorf in Adelaide, minus the huge old mansions.

To top off the day we went to a delicious stakehouse for dinner. Where they actually had Australian wine. Nice Australian wine too so we had to have some. It was a great way to finish the first leg of our holiday and we can’t thank our hosts enough for looking after us so well!

Next stop NYC!
