New York day 6
We started the day still feeling pretty full from that pizza the night before, so we had another slice and some berries and off we trekked to the museum mile. The first stop was the Guggenheim. The architecture of the building is pretty spectacular. Again, I forgot to take some photos, my bad. But it is designed to make viewing all the work easier as you kind of spiral down. No offshoots of halls to worry about!
I quite enjoyed it. I mean the art work isn’t to everyone’s taste and George kept saying it reminded him of this
but it was still interesting to see. My favourite work was this one.
Which was quite ironic as this one douche with the audio tour would not get out the way for ages.
I was starting to get art gallery rage.
Anyhoo, when we left it started raining. So we caught a cab to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We were both a little daunted by the sheer size of it, but we systematically covered off every room that wasn’t blocked off for restoration. Highlights for me were the ancient Greek and Roman exhibit and the special exhibit at the time of Van Gough’s Irises and Roses paintings.
This was the main hall for the Greek and Roman exhibit.
The rain had mostly stopped by the time we were asked to leave, so we stepped outside and had ourselves a NY chilli dog from the side of the road. It was pretty darn good.
So we made our way back home and proceeded to get ready for our night out at the Comedy Cellar. It was a good thing I booked tickets in advance as it was packed and sold out as we found out later. We had a great time and had many laughs. I definitely recommend going to a comedy show when in NY. It is well worth it.
All in all, a great day covering 18,927 steps!
