New York day 12
So it was meant to be raining and thunderstorming all day. So what better to have for lunch than the original soup man soup! As continues our tradition of going to places because of their pop culture references, this place was the inspiration for the Soup Nazi character in Seinfeld. The soup was good. I had to have the Jambalaya whilst George went with the lobster bisque. Each soup came with crusty bread and an orange too. Seriously good soup.
We also wanted to try to get to another broadway show seeing as it was going to be rainy outside. So we ventured back to times square to the half price ticket line to find the line to be too long. An executive decision was made and we went to see Jurassic Park in imax 3d instead. We were entertained. Actually I quite enjoyed it. Did you see those baby triceratops? I want one. Actually make that two. And throw in a little brontosauras while we’re at it. We emerged from the movie in full sunlight. So we made the most of it and walked around Grenich Village for a while. I found the original magnolia bakery and tried their red velvet cupcake. It was a good cupcake. Very different to my intpretatation of the recipe. The cake wasn’t as full of flavor as mine and the icing was much thinner, fluffier and sweeter. I guess it is a matter of individual taste.
We continued on our adventure and found Jane St. George remembered his work colleague saying that the best thing from his ny trip was the avocado toast at the Jane St Hotel. So we went. To be honest, it was avacado on toast with a bit of chilli on it. So…yeh…not much else to say about that.
We headed back to our room and rested for a bit (I had ironing to do to ensure our clothes were dry) before we headed to Randolph Beer for dinner. We had walked past this place a few times and the sign saying pants were optional sealed the deal for us going in. The food and beer was exceptional. I indulged in the lobster roll with waffle fries and George had the sake fried chicken.
Waffle fries are the shit and we are going to replicate them when we get home. All up a bit of a foody day but we still managed to walk 13,932 steps.

I’m down for waffle fries, they look amarze!
