Orlando Day 1 – Downtown Disney
We had a stupidly early flight to Orlando from NYC so we were both pretty tired and slept for most of the flight which was rare for George.
Once we landed, the magic started. Disney have everything under control. It is sheer briliance! Our free airport transfer bus was there waiting to take us to our hotel and we hardly had to lift a finger. Check in to the hotel was a breeze and we were given personalized magic bands to allow us access to the parks and other Disney magic.
Once we had settled in, we were pretty hungry, so we made our way to Downtown Disney for food and our first real look at the Disney experience. Before I go any further, Downtown Disney is a bit of a hub for shopping, entertainment and dining. As we only had a 5 day pass for our stay, we couldn’t get into the parks but this section is seperate.
As soon as we walked in we were all shut up and take my money! But we wanted to wait till we had seen everything before we made purchases, so I just made a list of things to come back to. Mainly art.
Lunch was at the T-Rex restaurant which as you can probably imagine, was dinosaur themed. We were so excited. Just check out the decor
The dinosaurs were all animatronic and made sounds too. It was just so awesome.
The food was surprisingly tasty too! I had the velociraptor rigatoni whilst George indulged in the boneyard buffet which was half a chicken and a huge rack of meaty ribs.
Both were huge but we were starving and it was about 2pm at this point. After we had finished we were pretty full for the rest of the day and didn’t need dinner.
Oh we also started a competition to see who recieved the most comments on our outfits seeing as my Sound of Myahhh shirt (found here) gained so many.
So all up it was a great introduction to Disneyworld. Everything we have seen so far is just done so well. All details are thought of. I also really like being treated like a big kid!
