My salad from The Vietnamese

Firstly, yes I know I missed a day. I went to the gym at 5:30am, work was hard and we went out for dinner (more on that later tonight). So here is my slightly belated post for yesterday.

For a few years now, I have worked in and around Fortitude Valley. It’s pretty great as due to the fact it is Brisbane’s Chinatown, there are an array of restaurants offering tasty things. However, there are a few that I will get time and time again because reasons.

One such dish (and the best way to enjoy it) was introduced to me by a friend almost 5 years ago. It is the vermicelli rice noodle salad from The Vietnamese. I was first introduced to the chicken version (non gluten free, make sure you say this if you can stomach gluten) but I now always go the pork spring roll version.

Look at it! It’s glorious!

So the way you have to eat this is as follows:

  1. Use the spoon and fork provided to mix up the salad ingredients
  2. Add in fresh chilli and the silver pot chilli to taste to your fish sauce dressing (you have to specifically ask for these. I didn’t use to have to but the wait staff has changed so people just don’t know me yet!) and mix around with your chopsticks
  3. Pour said dressing over your mixed up salad and give it a quick mix with your chopsticks
  4. Enjoy the hell out of your tasty, tasty salad.

What I love about this is the freshness. So fresh. Oh and I feel like it is more of a treat with the spring rolls. It makes it feel less “salady”.

So if you are in the mood for a fresh and tasty lunch for $10 and happen to be in Fortitude Valley, I highly recommend this dish and restaurant (that is always packed).
