A few months ago I started working out with a PT 2 sessions a week. I needed some motivation to get back to the gym and that certainly worked. He kicks my arse. In a good way though. I felt compelled to write about my fitness today because I made 2 personal bests today so I’m feeling pretty bad arse right now.

Firstly I dead-lifted 40kg. I know that might not seem like much, but I weigh 55kg so I’m pretty happy with that effort right there! Plus I’m not really looking for gains, I’m just wanting to get stronger, fitter and toned so that’s what we work on.

Next, I managed to do 3 x 30 second plank sets with 16 lunges before each plank as the last exercise set of my leg day. So I was dead. Again it might not seem like much for some, but my core and lower back is especially weak. There was a time I couldn’t even last 10 seconds in a plank without dropping to my knees. But I’ve been doing a 30 second plank every morning and night for the last few weeks and the result speaks for itself. I’m getting there and that is what matters.

Physically I’m feeling the strongest I have ever been and I’m starting to notice changes on the outside too. My arse has definition now (hell yeah!), my thighs and upper arms don’t jiggle like they used to and I’m starting to see definition in my arms too! My thighs and upper arms, along with that area on the hips just above the bum are the bits I am most self conscious about so I am please to be able to see noticeable differences in 2 of those areas right now!

I still have a way to go before I am truly confident in myself, but I am definitely on the right track and I am not really giving up anything like I did last time I was super fit. That is a tale for another post :p
