Like no one ever was…dun dun dun dun…To catch them is my real test…To train them is my cause!

You might have picked up that I am kinda obsessed with Pokemon. Actually, replace kinda with stupidly, yup that is me. It started a long time ago when I was 12 or 13 and the anime first aired on Cheez TV. I instantly fell in love. They were super cute critters who kicked arse and had feelings and emotions. I loved them all. Actually, there are 2 scenes from the first season of the anime that still make me shed a tear if I watch them again now. Anyway, I don’t care that both the anime and games just repeat the same old story over and over again, it is a good story and I get to collect cute things and train them up and watch them become bad arses.

I never played the original red/blue/yellow though. I didn’t have a gameboy. Eventually my cousin lent me her game boy colour as she wasn’t using it and I saved up my money to buy silver. I played the shit out of that game. I had so many level 100 Pokemon, including my awesome Typhlosion. As it happened, on my 16th birthday, there was an event where you could get Celebi, this is back in the days before wifi events people, you actually had to go to a shopping centre and line up to get one. Conveniently, my birthday cake came from this particular shopping centre so I sent my little brother with my mum and he got it for me. I was super pleased.

From there, as the other Pokemon games were released, I bought them pretty much instantly and played them till I had blisters on my thumbs. I even got George into Pokemon, which was awesome because then we could buy the opposite games and do the starter swaps. We haven’t bought Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire yet because of life. George has barely dented X and I am still working through Y. I really need to dedicate more time to it but eh. I did play some today though, mainly because I FINALLY HAVE A MEW!!!!!

I’m so happy Nintendo are making a big deal about the 20th anniversary of Pokemon. I can’t wait to get all the mythical legendary Pokemon that have escaped me over the years. You gotta catch ’em all! I also really love the advert they are doing for the Superbowl. It is not even promoting a game, they are just promoting the brand which is the first time they have ever done it. I just love it.

I really can’t wait for all the awesome Pokemon things that are going to happen soon, Pokemon Go (seriously this game will consume me) and Pokken Tournament will be awesome, I mean the franchise has been calling out for a proper fighting game for ever!

There is so much I could write on Pokemon that I can’t just confine it to one post. So I will be posting lots about different aspects of it and my fandom through out the year. I should really do a collection post. I have procured a vast collection of Pokemon related things…for another time.
