Bake-off!

Once a month, my agency does a morning tea where staff are put on a roster on to bake/cook/bring some sort of food. It was my turn today and I was pretty excited for it. I love baking and cooking, especially when it is for lots of people. Because I couldn’t decide between sweet and savoury I did both, because

So I went a little nostalgic and made honey crackles (honey joys) as my sweet. Who didn’t love these as a kid? So tasty and so easy with only 4 ingredients. Best easy baking snack ever! Plus look how golden and delicious they look in their tiny little cases!

My savory dish is an often requested treat for birthday baking in my team. I work in a team of all boys and most have more of a savory tooth, which does me just fine as I do as well! So I kinda made up this recipe based off another. Again, it is simple baking but my god is it impressive and everyone will love it! There are 5 ingredients, store bought puff pastry, light cream cheese, bacon diced and pre-cooked so that it is crispy, diced up jalapenos from a jar and grated parmesan cheese. Essentially, once the pastry has thawed, slather it with the cream cheese leaving half an inch free on one side, sprinkle over the other ingredients, roll it up from the opposite side of the cream cheese free edge and seal it up. Then just slice it with a sharp knife and place onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Pop into the over and voila! Puffy, crispy, spicy bacony goodness! You will want to smash the whole batch then and there!

So these were my contributions to bake-off. I love simple baking that tastes amazing. These are both excellent examples of this!
