Bulbasaur Planter
Over the past few months I have found a few new ways to be creative which was one of the key things I have been trying to get back into my life. My new job allows me to be more creative which is a huge plus but this opportunity just came out of the blue and I had the best time with this little craft project!
It all started when a friend at work gifted me a baby (seriously he is tiny!) Bulbasaur planter that she had 3D printed! he started out all white and needed some sanding. I don’t have a photo of this stage but you get the picture, he was white and plastic and needed to be sanded back to be smooth.
So, next I found myself at an art supply store buying good quality acrylic paint, paint brushes and some finishing coat. I spent a good 45 minutes trying to colour match the best I could, and whilst the end product is not completely perfect and if I was to make another one I would lighten up the base green I am still overall very pleased with my efforts!
This one was with one coat of the base green down. The lighting makes him look more blue than he actually in in real life.
Here he is before the varnishing. I feel like I am good at painting sculptures and the like. Put me in front of a canvas, however, and nope…I’ve got nothing. This craft project really showed me that I do have some form of skill so I would like to try to do another soonish!
And finally, you can see the finished project in the top image with a little succulent and all! Honestly, the hardest thing was finding a succulent small enough! Unfortunately, where I had him placed, the succulent wasn’t getting enough light so I think has wilted to the point of no return so I will need to find another one, but it is all a learning exercise!
Again, I had such fun doing this so I might ask my friend to see if she will 3d print me more planter style Pokemon…I feel an Oddish would be perfect!
