Japan day 2 – Tokyo

Today was a day to gather our bearings around where we are staying, as well as explore a little further out. So without any further ado..please enjoy the recap!

What we did

After a very good nights sleep, we woke up excited to start exploring! Poket wifi in hand we set out onto the streets of Shinjuku. Initially we just  wandered around where we are staying just to see what was around. I was hungry (as unlike George I actually eat breakfast) so I was looking for a bite to eat.

We did get a little distracted by finding a petshop with so many different animals! One was a little weird and somewhat wrong to me as well. There was this critter that looked a little like a ferret, but on closer inspection was actually a meerkat. Yup. A meerket. I’m just going to leave that there.

From here we walked to the hub of Shinjuku and immediately found the Sega arcade which we spent a decent amount of time in just being overwhelmed by it all. We didn’t actually play anything here.

So we walked around more and found this godzilla

More walking to decide where to have lunch and George needed to go to the little boys room, so we stopped in an arcade and I set to work on a ufo catcher. After a few attempts, I almost had it and the super nice attendant put it in the exact position I needed so on the next go I won! This is what I won!

Cute right?

After lunch, we headed to one of our must do things in Japan, a hedgehog and bunny cafe! Just look at pictures.

Best day of my life, seriously.

With giant smiles on our faces, we then hopped on a train to spend the afternoon in Harajuku.

The main strip was super packed so after one pass through we decided to see what else was around. Of course we came across some awesome fashion as you would expect, and then found Kiddy Land. A toystore that has been open since the 40s and had 5 floors stocked with all the cute things. It was amazing. I wanted to buy so much but my rational side (otherwise known as George) kicked in.

We found this awesome sushi place for dinner and then took our tired feet home.

For our first real day, this is exactly what we expected out of Japan. Oh but we did learn that JR passes don’t cover all trains in Tokyo.

Oh and should you want to see my adventures in real time, follow me on instagram @swod_woosh 🙂

What we ate

A 7/11 steamed pork bun for breakfast.

Delicious chicken broth ramen for lunch. Seriously, such the most delicious ramen.

Crepes from Harajuku for afternoon tea. Ugggg these were so sweet and tasty!

And finally delicious sushi train for dinner. After big bowls of ramen for lunch, sushi was all we needed for dinner.

What we bought

So we actually bought a few things today. Only a few. Here they all are in a nice neat flatlay

#totelife

So you may know that I like blind boxes. I found a Gudetama blind box where he was a part of food. I had to have it.

I opened the hot pot one. It’s amazing. George hates it.
