My favourite apps right now
So, I’m going to do some posts that aren’t food/travel related for a bit to really break back into the whole blogging on a more regular basis thing. One of my goals for the year was to write more, so what better place than my little blog to jot down my musings.
I think I may have done a similar post on my fave apps a few years ago now, but that seems so long ago and I feel like I have changed so much, so I thought it was as good a time as any to revisit the apps that I love and are a huge part of my existence on this Earth. Without further ado and in no particular order, the apps I can’t live without right now are:
Keep
Ah Google Keep. I am a massive lister. I need lists. Lists create order in my mind. Keep is honestly the most versatile note taking app I have used and to be honest, it pretty much holds most of my thoughts. Not only is it great for check lists which I use for shopping, jobs/chores I need to do, blog ideas, packing and random things like tattoo ideas, but I also love it for quick note taking on thoughts and ideas that pop into my head. I am one of those people that has random ideas or thoughts constantly that I might want to explore later and Keep is just spectacular at allowing me to note these down quickly. Keep is an extension of my mind.
Daylio
Through some recent self discovery, I have recognised that I am not really in tune with my emotions and thoughts, I struggle to recognise what I am feeling most of the time and get caught up in whatever it is I am doing to distract myself from my emotions rather than deal with them. Well, this year I am rectifying that and being much more open with myself and eventually, other people. It was really hard to do it by myself and whilst I do keep a written gratitude journal, I needed something to help me track and think about my emotions and thoughts easily and when they happen. I tried a few different apps but they were very cumbersome and not fun to use. That was until I found Daylio. Daylio is incredibly flexible and easy to use with a super cute interface. There is a free version which I am sure would work fine for most, but as I wanted to really start unpacking all of my thoughts and emotions, I did pay the one off fee for the premium version (around $5 AUD I believe). The premium version allows you to add in as many moods and activities as possible which is perfect for me. There are also some great reporting elements such as viewing your overall moods for the month. I highly recommend Daylio if you are trying to get in touch more with your emotions and thoughts. I tried a few and it really is the nicest and easiest interface to use.
My social media of choice. I look at Instagram probably 2x a day on average. I love the fact that it is pretty imagery and short snippets of content from those I choose to follow (and some ads…). I actually have 2 accounts, one for my personal posts and another for a more creative outlet which is for Chikorita, the most rambunctious member of our stuffed animal family. The addition of direct messaging and stories was great too.
Now Pinterest is technically also social media, but I don’t really use it for that. I’ve always wanted to scrapbook and Pinterest allows me to do this with very little effort. It is so relaxing to just scroll down the endless stream of content and pin the things that catches my eye to my numerous boards. I am a prolific pinner. My boards are so eclectic when it comes to themes, I do have about 5 boards dedicated to food, but then there is crafternoon ideas, inspiring thoughts, generally awesome things, garden related things and cute animals. I’m addicted to Pinterest and I ain’t even mad.
Pokemon Go
Yes, I am still playing this! Also yes there are still people out there who play it! Some recent updates have made the game exciting again and really, it is the only game that I play on mobile now. It doesn’t run my life, but I do really enjoy playing it so I will continue to and you can’t stop me!
Facebook Messenger
Say what you want about it, Messenger is great for quick chats with friends be it one on one or in a group. Since gifs became easier to post it is just ideal for how I communicate. In the world we live in now, Messenger just fits seamlessly into my social life.
There you have it friends, the apps that I can’t live without right now. Do you share any similar ones with me? I’d love to know which apps you couldn’t live without!
