Japan day 12 – Osaka to Okinawa
Uggh such an early start today. We had to catch a train at 6am to be able to get to the airport in time for our flight. So I’ll just get straight into it.
What we did
After catching the early train, we walked around Kansai Airport for a while and found that there was a 2 week Pokemon event happening. I love how much this country loves Pokemon. There were giant inflatable Pokemon around the place.
Once we landed in Naha (Okinawa) we had 4hrs till we could check into our Airbnb. So we walked around Naha for a bit and found a place to eat that served a local favourite, taco rice. More about that later.
With our bellies full, we headed back to the airport on the monorail and killed a little more time by playing Pokemon Go before catching the bus that headed up to the aquarium (close to where we were staying). This was a 2.5hr ride and we were able to see some very different scenery to what we were used to seeing.
Eventually we made it to our place (after a 10 min walk up hill with bags) and started to settle in and think about dinner. I asked the airbnb host for some recommendations and they were less than useless…so we went to Google and went for a walk. We stumbled across the very fancy Orion Hotel that had 3 restaurants. One happened to be a Japanese style buffet so we went there to fill our bellies.
That was about it for our day. We walked 18,263 steps in total.
What we ate
The aforementioned taco rice, which we actually make a version of at home. So this wasn’t very new to us. Tasty though but not the best thing we have eaten on this trip.
So this is a selection of foods at the Orion Hotel buffet. We ate like kings :p There was also another plate of deserts that George had to himself that I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of before they all miraculously disappeared :p
Deserts!
Sashimi/ceviche plate with snow crab legs.
Assortment of foods haha! We each had a plate of all 3 courses by the way!
We didn’t buy anything today. Not the day for it.
